Connections for W&J College Students

The Washington Transit Center is located in Downtown Washington and is easily accessible from W&J’s campus. All fixed route buses make stops at the transit center, providing students access to local shopping, dining, employment, and entertainment locations. Freedom Transit provides bus service to Canonsburg, McMurray, McDonald, Monongahela, South Hills, and Downtown Pittsburgh from the Washington Transit Center.

Bus Service In and Around Washington

Freedom Transit operates three bus routes in and around the Washington area providing students with access to local shopping, dining, employment, and entertainment locations. A list of the points of interest for each route can be found below:

Local A

The Local A operates Monday through Friday, 6:50 AM to 7:05 PM and makes the following stops:

  • Washington Park
  • Washington Main Street Pavilion
  • Washington Hospital
  • Shop N’ Save
  • Family Dollar
  • Dairy Queen
  • Dollar General

Local B

The Local B bus operates Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 7:03 PM and makes the following stops:

  • W&J Rossin Center
  • Big Lots & Eatn’ Park
  • Beau St. Park & Ride (connection with Grey Line to PIT airport)
  • Aldi’s & Walmart
  • Red Robin & Gabe’s
  • Buffalo Wild Wings & Hobby Lobby
  • Target & Giant Eagle
  • Shop N’ Save
  • Crown Center Mall
  • Washington Wild Things

Local Saturday

The Local Saturday bus operates Saturday, 8:30 AM to 6:30 PM and provides access to all of the same stops that are serviced on the weekday Local A & Local B schedules.

Bus Service throughout Washington County

In addition to the Washington Local bus service, the County Line A & B routes provide transportation to and from other communities in Washington County including Houston, Canonsburg, McDonald, McMurray, Finleyville, and Monongahela. Racetrack Road locations are also serviced with these routes. A list of the points of interest for each route can be found below:

The County Line A route operates Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 6:05 PM and makes the following stops:

  • McMurray, PA along Route 19
  • McMurray Town Centre

The Pittsburgh Metro and Metro Saturday routes provide access to and from Washington & Canonsburg locations as well as transportation into Downtown Pittsburgh and the South Hills area. A list of the points of interest for each route can be found below:

Pittsburgh Metro

The Pittsburgh Metro operates Monday through Friday, 5:00 AM to 7:35 PM and makes the following stops:

  • PGH: Gateway Center
  • PGH: Blvd of Allies @ Wood St.
  • PGH: 6th & Smithfield St.
  • PGH: Liberty & 10th
  • PGH: East Busway
  • Beau St. Park & Ride (connection with Grey Line to PIT airport)
  • Trinity Point- Walmart

Metro Saturday

The Metro Saturday route operates Saturday, 9:15 AM to 5:42 PM and makes the following stops:

  • Beau St. Park & Ride (connection with Grey Line to PIT airport)

  • Hollywood Casino at the Meadows
  • Pike St. in Houston & Canonsburg

Bus Service to PIT International Airport

Freedom Transit provides a connection point for students looking to use the Grey Line bus to PIT airport. The Local B, Local Saturday, Pittsburgh Metro, and Metro Saturday buses can take you to Beau St. Park in Ride in Washington where you can then board the Mountain Line: Grey Line bus that provides service to PIT International. Grey Line accepts reservations and encourages individuals to schedule their ride in advance to ensure there is space on the bus. More information on Grey Line can be found here.
